In the final days of December, Marabella Meatball Company closed for good at the 1211 Walnut Street address. After some cosmetic changes, Vaishal Soni opened the doors to his kati roll and platter house Masala Kitchen on January 26.
Soni opened Eater Philly's fast food favorite Spice End in Center City, before selling his stake in the company, snatching up the bustling Walnut Street space, and taking his chef, Arjun Thakur, with him to open a second iteration of the kati roll concept. This location will offer a similar menu to Spice End's, but with some notable additions: "chicken kheema roll" (ground chicken and lentils), "healthy sprout roll" (beet root, crispy cabbage), rose lassi (yogurt and rose syrup drink), and kala khatta (Indian sherbet made of blackberry fruit)
Hours will go from 11 a.m. to midnight on weekdays, and for the weekend crowd, the shop will stay open until 3:30 a.m. Check out the menu below:
