Shake Shack's new coffee stout, aptly named 'Coffee Stout', is a three-headed beast of a dark ale created, collaboratively, by Shake Shack (Philly), La Colombe Coffee Roasters, and Yards Brewing Company. Today marks the official release of the special-edition brew, now being served at all Philly Shake Shack locations (University City and King of Prussia), in the Yards brewery's tasting room, and at La Colombe Torrefication in Fishtown.
The Coffee Stout uses ethically sourced beans from La Colombe's Haiti Coffee Academy, an effort by La Colombe co-founder Todd Carmichael and company to reinvigorate the Haitian coffee industry. And to keep those good vibes rolling in Philly, Shake Shack's culinary director Mark Rosati, Yards' brewmaster/founder Tom Kehoe, and Carmichael have decided to donate $2 of every beer ($5.75) to the City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program, Shake Shack's official charitable partner.
