Jose Garces’s Fiery New All-Day Eatery Opens Next Week

24 is all about wood-fired cooking

24 Wood Fired Fare, Jose Garces’s newest restaurant concept opening next Tuesday, November 8, at 2401 Walnut Street, is situated perfectly between the thousands of students west of the Schuylkill River and the hoards of families, workers, and tourists that make up much of Rittenhouse, Fitler and Logan Square. So he built the restaurant with these neighborhoods’ needs in mind: health-conscious, wood-fired pasta, pizza, and other Italian specialties at "approachable price points."

This is Garces’s first predominantly Italian concept — his other concepts usually stay within Latin bounds, but a recent summer trip to the Tuscan countryside inspired 24.

The all-day cafe opens at 7 a.m. with counter service, which means Garces Trading Company coffees, baked pastries, grab-and-go breakfast options, and cold pressed juices. Lunch brings on full-service at 11:30 a.m., with cheese plates, antipasti, customizable salads, and, of course, wood-fired Neapolitan pizza. "Apertivo Time" goes from 4:30-6:30 p.m., which includes discounted options from 24’s all-Italian wine list, cocktails, bar snacks, and complimentary small plates. Dinner is similar to lunch, except house-made pastas are added to the menu.

24 is big, too — 100 seats big, 140 if you include the outdoor patio. The address is also home to the Garces Group offices, as well as Estudio, the company’s 20-seat private event space and test kitchen. Now that there’s a restaurant attached, Estudio will soon begin public tastings, cooking classes, and other events. Make your reservations on Open Table starting November 4.

Stay tuned for photos.
