Book Club

Marc Vetri’s James Beard-nominated cookbook Mastering Pasta: The Art and Practice of Handmade Pasta, Gnocchi, and Risotto will soon have a companion: Mastering Pizza—basically a lesson on dough manipulation, be it in pizza, focaccia, or the rotolo, Pizzeria Vetri’s signature dish. Look for it in 2018.

Coming Attractions

Philly.com has the word on Old City’s new 17-story residential building BRIDGE, opening at 205 Race Street. Of the four commercial tenants, two will be restaurants: a new United by Blue location — this one one three times the size of its original flagship location just down the block (which will be used as office space) — and Tuna Bar, a sushi bar by Maple Shade’s Yokohama co-owner Ken Sze.

Menu Porn

Co-chef-owner Scott Schroeder has decided to up the dinner-game at his Queen Village all-day cafe Hungry Pigeon with a new family-style dinner series—$40 a person gets you some hors-d'oeuvres, a main, and a bunch of sides. The first menu one’s built around a classic lasagna made with “local everything”. Foobooz adds you can opt for a $30 beverage pairing, too. Read the full menu below.
