Jaxon's dinner service starts tonight, March 16, at 5 p.m., with a locally considered menu of old staples and newcomers by chefs Ed Conwell and Doug Dreisbach. Inside the old Il Cantuccio space, owner Tony Schiro kept the aesthetic simple: a modern monochromatic motif (opposite Il Cantuccio's rustic Italian one), hanging edison bulbs, air plant terrariums, and wall art by family friend Marcus Mazza — a balancing act between cozy and breezy. The open kitchen, the room's main attraction, juts into the dining area, nailing down that restaurant intimacy Philly diners love about a neighborhood BYOB. Hours will be Wednesday to Monday, 5 - 10 p.m. on weekdays, and till 11 p.m. on weekends.
