Southwark Wants You to Eat and Drink for Cheap

A new happy hour plus weeknight specials make Southwark one of the most affordable places to drink in town

Queen Village icon Southwark has been back up and running for a few months now, this version led by husband and wife team Chris D'Ambro and Marina De Oliveira. Its kitchen, which prides itself on sourcing locally and making much of its menu by hand (bread, butter, pasta), stays open until 1 a.m., and on Wednesdays, the dining room goes full-BYOB — making the restaurant pretty accessible for the surrounding neighborhood and industry crowd.

As of this week, Southwark will add a weekday happy hour Wednesday through Friday and Monday from 5 - 7 p.m. (it's closed Tuesday), meaning a couple bucks knocked off certain food items (below), and a selection of $8 cocktails and $5 select beers and wines, not to mention $2 High Life ponies. Better yet, on Thursdays, order an entire bottle of wine for just $20 — a deal which might be one of the best bargains in town.
