First, it was Sweet Charlie's opening in Washington Square, then I.CE.NY Philly hung up a sign in Chinatown. In June, Teassert Bar will join the rolled ice cream fun at 227 North 10th Street.
Right now, Stephen Ngo, who also happens to be the owner of Philly's only bubble tea truck, Royal Tea Truck, is waiting on the necessary permits to turn what used to be Abakus Takeout (a high-end men's streetwear shop) into an ice cream shop specializing in Thai rolled ice cream and bubble teas. Ngo promises all-natural ingredients, no fructose syrups, no powders, no artificial colors. For those with restrictions and allergies, Teassert will offer dairy-free options like soy and almond milk based ice creams and teas.
Hours will go from 11 a.m. - 11 p.m. on weekdays and till midnight on weekends. Ngo is shooting for a mid-June opening, but until then, get a taste of his bubble tea on Drexel's campus.
