Though Schmidt's is long gone, a brew addition is on its way to The Piazza in Northern Liberties. Opening in 2017, the brew pub will be the newest restaurant from Dave Goldman, the co-owner and co-founder of Landmark Americana Tap & Grill. The local chain has locations in West Chester, Glassboro, University City, and on City Avenue, all of which serve up a menu of snacks (including cheesesteak egg rolls), sandwiches, and a variety of ten flavors of chicken wings.
From the Piazza brew pub, you can expect a large space (Goldman is taking over the former King's Oak) — big enough to accommodate a seven tank brew system — with lots of outdoor seating in an open air beer garden. The plan for the menu is to feature fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. Look forward to dishes like wood-fired pizza, mussels, pressed sandwiches on homemade sourdough, salads, and small plates, as well as local wine and spirits in addition to the brewery's own beers on tap and in cask.
Details to come.
