Southeast Asian Fast-Casual Eatery to Debut with 300 Free Lunches

The Hai Street team expands to its first new concept

From the folks who brought you sushi burritos (Hai Street Kitchen & Co.): Wok Street is a southeast Asian quick-serve opening this Thursday, May 12, at 1518 Chestnut Street, and the first 300 customers in line get a free lunch. The doors open at noon, and if the first Hai Street free-lunch-giveaway is any indicator of what's to come, setting up a tent the night before might be a smart move.

Fast-casual Wok Street is southeast Asian-inspired, so you start with a bowl of rice or noodles, add a protein, add your vegetables, and finish it off with a sauce of your choice. There will, of course, be a build-your-own option as well as a menu of signature bowls. And for some added variety, Wok Street will also offer banh mis, summer rolls and salads.

If all of this sounds familiar, that's because it's a tried-and-true concept for Center City: Honeygrow's been nailing the process since 2012, Wokworks, less than five blocks away, is virtually the same idea, and Double Knot has a pretty similar thing going on during its lunch hours.

After this Thursday's giveaway, hours will go from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., daily.
