For the first time in Hop Sing Laundromat's four-year existence, the Chinatown cocktail bar's proprietor, Lê, is taking a vacation. Why? Because it's the bar's four year anniversary on Thursday, May 26, and as he puts it, "You know me, I like to do the opposite of what others do."
So instead of celebrating the milestone with a birthday party, Lê's decided to get lost, somewhere far away from Philadelphia, starting on May 26. Look for the bar to reopen sometime around June 2.
Earlier today, Billy Penn, for reasons unclear, tweeted that Hop Sing could be on the "chopping block". It was retracted soon after:
Update: Fear not, @hopsinglaundry fans, the proprietor assures @billy_penn he's not planning to close the bar for good
