With so much Philly representation at yesterday's James Beard Award ceremony in Chicago, it's a bit of a bummer that not a single chef came home with a medal.
Best Chef: Mid-Atlantic — which, out of the six nominations, half were Philadelphians — went to DC's Rose's Luxury. Michael Solomonov lost to Suzanne Goin of Lucques for Outstanding Chef, Stephen Starr lost to New York's Ken Friedman, and bread baker extraordinaire Alex Bois was beat out by Daniela Soto-Innes for Rising Star Chef.
Eli Kulp made an appearance with the Fork team, which was a wonderful thing to see.
Here's to all the winners, and we'll get 'em next time, Philly. Check out the full list of nominations here, and the full list of 2016 winners here.
