On June 23, Aussie-born Ben Simmons became the number one pick in the NBA draft, thus making him a Philadelphia 76er. And it wasn't long ago that the LSU star chomped into a Dalessandro's cheesesteak on national television, his first real-deal Philly cheesesteak of what we'd presume to be many more. Now, there's been an update in the world of Simmons-food-news: he likes meat pies.

You know, because he's Australian, born in Melbourne, and they have meat pies there. The Daily Mail reports that while he was in New York for the draft, he went to The Australian, which has an entire section of its menu dedicated to meat pies.

Sam Jacobson, owner of Philly's British meat pie shop Stargazy, went to the Sports Radio 94 WIP headquarters, and gave Philly-famous radio personality Angelo Cataldi his first taste of a traditional meat pie. Like the rest of us, his first bite elicited a deep "wow".
