Starting in 2015, chef Lou Boquila cultivated a hard-core following for his nuanced Filipino fare with a series of pop-ups. Boquila has spent the past year working on a permanent location for his food with Perla at 1535 S. 11th Street. The restaurant will be a 30-seat BYOB with a tasting menu-only dining experience.
The upcoming Filipino eatery has had substantial buzz since its announcement, and all eyes are on an opening date. Just this week, Perla declared on Facebook that it will be hiring for front-of-house and back-of-house positions soon. That means an opening should be imminent.
