Flourtown Gets its Very Own Union Taco

Tacos and more come to the Northwest Suburbs

Earlier this week, Nick Farina, the man behind Manayunk's Union Taco, soft-opened a second location of his Mexican taco joint in his hometown, Flourtown, PA, just outside of Chestnut Hill at 1666 Bethlehem Pike.

Farina's track record in Philly has been quite turbulent in recent years. His Bryn Mawr restaurant and tequila bar Verdad closed after six years in October 2015; his Girard Avenue Union Taco became a collaborative kitchen called EAT, then a shortly-lived pork-only restaurant called PIG. The Manayunk Union Taco operation seems to be running successfully, so he decided to keep the ball rolling in Flourtown.

The menu is pretty much the same as Manayunk's: tacos, tortas, burritos, salads and sides. Flourtown gets the bonus of Mexican-inspired milkshakes, like cinnamon-vanilla churro and chocolate-jalapeño.

There's a 20-seat dining room, but take-out is always a good option, especially with a $45 taco kit which provides tortillas (20), proteins of your choice, and all the toppings you'll need to throw a kick-ass taco night. It's BYOB, but they provide complimentary freshly-squeezed margarita mixers if you bring your own tequila.

Tonight will be dinner-only; regular hours start tomorrow, July 7, noon - 10 p.m.
