Local Distillery in Kensington Opens Tasting Room With Full Service Cocktail Bar

From basement beginnings to a full-on distillery, now with an adjoining tasting room

Today, August 11, marks the official opening of Federal Distilling's tasting room at 1700 North Hancock Street in Kensington. Federal Distilling Room, or FDR for short, will feature tastings, of course, a full-service cocktail bar, small plates, private event digs, and group distillery tours, all centered around its flagship vodka brand, Stateside Urbancraft Vodka.

Federal Distilling was co-founded in 2013 by two brothers, Matt and Bryan Quigley, distilling their own vodka in their parents' basement instead of stealing bottles and refilling them with water like normal kids do. In 2015, Stateside vodka hit the shelves, and has since grown to 166 stores and over 300 bars in the Philly area. When the DNC was in town, Stateside became its exclusive vodka provider for any DNC-related event.

FDR will serve up Stateside vodka in all of its many forms, plus a few other spirits, beer, and wine for good measure.

It will only be open Thursdays through Saturdays, opening at 5 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and noon on Saturday. Book your distillery tours here.
