CENTER CITY — Half Acre Brewing Co., a Chicago-based craft brewery, is hitting up Philadelphia this week to host a week-long barbecue at the Uptown Beer Garden. All Half Acre drafts are $5, and chef Jonathan Petruce will be putting out some traditional backyard bites: ribs, burgers, smoked brisket and the like. On the event's last day, August 27, Jersey-born Carton Brewery will join the fun with $7 10 oz. pours.

WASHINGTON SQUARE WEST — On Thursday, September 1, the WashWest beer bar Strangelove's is hosting a NKOTB — New Kegs On The Block — Brewery Bonanza party. Owners Leigh Maida, Brendan Hartranft and Brendan Kelly are celebrating Philly's new wave of local brewers with an all-local tap-takeover. The line-up will go as follows:
