Chef Mike Stollenwerk has an opening date for his new Haddonfield, N.J. BYOB, Two Fish: Wednesday, September 21. The new spot at 26 South Haddon Avenue is only 24 seats, and like all of the chef's previous projects in Philly, it'll be seafood-focused with a tight menu (below) of five appetizers and five entrees.
Stollenwerk's had quite the career around these parts. After gaining some national recognition for his tiny Queen Village gem Little Fish, the chef doubled-down, sold Little Fish to current chef-owner Chadd Jenkins and opened Fish in Midtown Village (currently Bud & Marilyn's). Trouble with investors forced him to jump ship which landed him in a few seafood houses around town: Fathom, then Branzino, then Headhouse Crab & Oyster Co. His latest venture, 26 North, gained two bells and stars from the Inquirer and Philly Mag, but closed due to some discord between ownership and staff.
Stollenwerk and his girlfriend Felice Leibowitz (who will manage all front-of-house operations) will launch Two Fish with dinner service only for the first week; Sunday brunch will follow soon after. Sunday evenings will be reserved for what might soon be considered the best dinner deal in town — the same deal that booked Little Fish up months in advance — a $28 five-course tasting menu, two seatings, one at 5:45 p.m., the other at 7:45 p.m.
Dinner hours go from 5 p.m. - 9 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday, and Sunday brunch goes from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
As for the 26 North space, ex-Lacroix sous Benjamin Moore has taken over to open another BYOB called Wister.
