As the leaves change this fall, so does the menu (below) at Good King Tavern under the direction of new chef Nicholas Bazik and sous Chef Aaron Bennawit. Bazik has cooked at some of the best spots in town — Fork, Bistro la Minette, and most recently, Lacroix.
Bazik took over the kitchen in early September and has since furthered the Good King’s mission to nail down classic French bistro favorites at affordable prices. That means Bazik-versions of steak frites, escargot, and pork shoulder confit (his comes alongside a celery root purée with sauce verte).
Starting October 8, the Tavern will also serve "an imaginative, bistro-inspired" menu on Sundays from 11 a.m. - 11 p.m. It’s a combo of brunch, lunch and dinner plates.
And as always, bottles of wine are half price all day on "Cellar Sundays", plus Monday-Thursday from 5-7 p.m., dollar oysters and deals on bubbly are offered at the bar and dining room.
The kitchen is open until 1 a.m. and the bar pours until 2 a.m., every day of the week.
