Let the lines begin

Halal Guys/Facebook

Tomorrow, October 1, at 11 a.m., New York institution The Halal Guys will open their doors in King of Prussia at 150 West Dekalb Pike in the Valley Forge Shopping Center, and if you're one of the first 200 people in line, you'll get a free tee shirt. If you're part of the first 100, you've got yourself a free entrée platter.

The menu is small — your choice of a platter or sandwich filled with grilled marinated chicken, beef gyro (sliced off a vertical spit), or falafel on a bed of seasoned rice, some vegetables, and pita. Sides are typical: baba ghanouj, hummus, french fries, tahina, and baklava for dessert. Hours are Monday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Naveen Mohiuddin, the operating franchisee, said they "anticipate opening several more locations in and around the Philadelphia suburbs in the near future." However, in just about a month, a different franchisee will open a Halal Guys in Chinatown Square, the long-awaited 24-hour food hall at 1016-18 Race Street.
