Dave Macgrogan's Irish pub, Kildare's, closed over the long weekend, and in one fell swoop, the college kids of Manayunk lost their favorite watering hole. According to a recent Reddit post by user scotty269, this sign was posted to the front door of 4417 Main Street:
After a 12-year run, owner Dave Magrogan told Philly.com, "The building needed considerable improvements right now - plumbing, roof, HVAC," owner Dave Magrogan said. "We couldn't keep operating under those conditions." Yesterday, September 5, this email was sent "To all Staff":
Like it says, Magrogan and company are "putting together a plan" to turn it into a Red Star Craft House, an Exton, PA-based pizza, wine and beer restaurant, but that won't happen until the building gets its due "major renovation".
Last year, Magrogan sold his original Kildare's in West Chester, PA to a manager, and earlier this summer, he closed his University City Doc Magrogan's Oyster House around the same time he opened one in Sea Isle City, NJ. Meanwhile, his Harvest Seasonal Grill & Wine Bar brand continues to grow with a new location in Radnor, PA, plus three more to come next year.
