MANAYUNK — Over six months after it was thoroughly wiped out by flooding from a burst water main, Jake’s & Cooper’s Wine Bar reopens today on Manayunk’s Main Street. Expect similar comforting-but-refined eats to before (the exact menu isn’t available yet) — from wood-fired pizza through to the ice cream taco. The hours look to be reduced: Michael Klein reports that it’ll be Thursday to Sunday dinners, and Monday lunch for now.
KENSINGTON — Prominent Italian winemaker Chiara Boschis (of E. Pira & Figli winery) is back in Philly to serve up the single vineyard Barolos she is known for. You can catch her at Italian bar Wm. Mulherin’s Sons next Monday (January 30) for a special edition happy hour, no tickets or anything like that required.
POPLAR — Spring Garden pizzeria Bufad has a solid pizza deal on right now — buy two wood-fired pies to take home and get a third free, as long as you stop by on Sunday through Thursday.
WASHINGTON SQUARE WEST — Philly.com has the news that Butcher Bar chef Evan Turney is out just a few months after it opened. He’s moving over to work for his sister Marcie at modern American spot Bud & Marilyn’s.
ALL OVER — Will you be taking your loved one out for dinner, not because you love them, but for the standard Valentine’s Day ritual? The V-Day special menus are starting to drift into Eater’s inbox, and here are just a few: Northern Liberties BYOB Jaxon will open specially for the day (they’re usually closed Tuesday), doing a rich four-course tasting menu at $65. Spruce Hill BYOB Marigold Kitchen will beef up their usual 11 course menu to a 13 course one for both Valentine’s and the Saturday before (February 11) — $100 for that. Out west, Berwyn’s Nectar will have a special V-Day à la carte menu from chef Patrick Feury, with ample seafood and mandatory oysters for lovers — it runs February 9 through 14.
