Juan Carlos Romero is perhaps best known in the Philly food scene for being the force behind Los Taquitos De Puebla — and especially for his tacos al pastor. He will now be known for his new Point Breeze venture: Philly Tacos, which opens tomorrow, Tuesday, October 10, at 2011 S. Reed Street, reports Philadelphia magazine.
Los Taquitos De Puebla was originally located in the Italian Market but closed last year when, as Phillymag.com says, the rent of the space got to be too much. Los Taquitos de Puebla III — located elsewhere on 9th Street — has different owners.
Philly Tacos is celebrating its opening tomorrow from 4-11 p.m. with live music and a 30-percent discount on all menu items. Going forward, Philly Tacos will be open Monday to Saturday. The shop will be closed on Sundays so that Romero can sling his wares at the Headhouse Farmers’ Market.
