The Piazza at Schmidt’s Commons in Northern Liberties has another new tenant on the way. Saige Coffee House, a local chain with five shops in Philly and New Jersey, is going into the mixed-used development. It’s slated to open in February 2018 in what was Euphoria Cafe, at 1001 N. 2nd Street, Suite 9.
Saige styles itself as an all-day cafe, with beans from Red House Roasters and a lineup of modern coffee shop staples: cold brew on tap, nitro cold brew, single-origin pour overs, teas, and artwork from local artists. The menu also includes veggie and fruit smoothies, breakfast sandwiches, paninis, and salads, available from early morning through mid-evening (exact hours to be determined). Look for the 1,400-square-foot cafe to have about 35 seats at a counter, tables, and couches. Outdoor seating will be added when it’s warm enough to sip a cold brew outside.
Owner Ehsan Wahdat just opened a Saige in Jackson, New Jersey, this week. He also has locations at Temple University and at 16th and Wallace in Fairmount, and two coffee shops in Tom’s River.
Saige isn’t the only Schmidt’s Commons restaurant scheduled to open in 2018. Chalaco’s Ceviche & Pisco Bar will bring Peruvian fare to Liberties Walk, across from the Piazza in what was Bar Ferdinand. Another to-be-announced eatery is also going in, along with an Orangetheory Fitness to work off all those pisco sours. Urban Village Brewing Company opened at the Piazza over the summer.
