Bar owner Teddy Sourias, who’s behind Finn McCool's Ale House, Bru, U-Bahn, Cinder, and the seasonal Uptown Beer Garden, just bought the former jewelry store next to Finn McCool’s and he’s turning it onto a Christmas bar. Tinsel Christmas Pop-up Bar, at 116 S. 12th Street, is open December 8-31.
The three rooms that make up Tinsel are, fittingly, decked out with plenty of lights and Christmas decorations. But it’s not all holiday cheer: There’s a Krampus mural to remind those who’ve been naughty what’s in store. To drink, look for a rotating list of Christmas-themed cocktails ($8-10), plus holiday brews like Troegs Mad Elf and Hardywood Gingerbread Stout. The food menu includes appetizers, sandwiches, and Christmas cookies.
Tinsel will be open Tuesday to Thursday from 5 to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 2 p.m. to midnight, and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. Happy hour runs weekdays from 5 to 7 p.m. with $5 cocktails and drafts.
Sourias isn’t saying yet what he plans to do with the building next year, but expect it to be a food/drink venue. He’s also working on the upcoming Trademan’s, opening at 1322 Chestnut Street.
