— Starting April 1, Alla Spina will offer Saturday brunch. The beer cheese toast, ribs and eggs, and apple pie pancakes used to be offered only on Sundays.
— It looks like Tasty Tuscan is moving forward on South Broad. Philly.com reported over a year ago that the Italian restaurant and marketplace was taking over the former Tashan spot at 777 S. Broad St., with the owners hoping to open in July 2016. The application for a liquor license sign was just posted on Saturday.

— Speaking of Italian restaurants, Stefano Biasini, co-owner of Gran Caffe L'Aquila on Chestnut Street, will be competing in the World Cup of Gelato. He won the contest in 2014. But for the first time, Biasini will be representing the U.S. team instead of the Italian one. The international competition takes place in Rimini, Italy, in January 2018.
