Craft brewery Evil Genius has been around town before in pop-up form, and as of today, their permanent Fishtown location is open.
Practically underneath the El, not far from Berks Station, the 6,000 square foot space is a big, open, post-industrial affair — the Inquirer’s Michael Klein likened it to Philadelphia Distilling Company’s also-reclaimed space not too far away.

Unsurprisingly, Evil Genius’ own brews will be on tap — the options lean towards being more full-bodied (porters), more hoppy (IPAs), and with more experimental flavors — cases in point include the chocolate-hazelnut stout “I’ll Have What She’s Having”, and “Purple Monkey Dishwasher”, a choco-peanut butter porter. But there are some less out-there options — see “Stacy’s Mom”, a citrusy IPA. To-go beer will also be an option, with growlers and crowlers (cans) available.
A small, reasonably-priced food menu is on offer, too — think sandwiches, wraps, and snacky charcuterie plates. Oh, and on top of the food and beer there’s also a Sega Genesis straight out of the 80s in the bar, which customers can play as they drink.
