The duo behind Marigold Kitchen in West Philly are planning for an October 1 opening for Talk, their new Rittenhouse restaurant going into the former L’Image Photography Studios at 2121 Walnut Street. Andrew Kochan and chef Tim Lanza combined their initials for the restaurant’s name: Tim Andrew Lanza Kochan.
Unlike Marigold, a BYOB that serves off a tasting menu only, Talk’s dishes will be al la carte — and, there’s alcohol. The food is in the new American category, which means carrots come roasted in duck fat and tucked into beignets, while the lamb is turned into sausage, wrapped inside wontons, and tossed in melted butter and mint oil. At least, that’s the plan for now: Executive chef Lanza is still testing out dishes. He’ll go back and forth between Talk and Marigold. Keith Krajewski is staying at Marigold as executive chef.
Talk will seat about 55, with wood tables, black hardwood floors, and wrought iron lighting fixtures. A white marble bar will seat about 15. The look they’re going for is gothic.
