Jezabel’s Studio, the Argentine cafe and shop in West Philly, is expanding. Chef-owner Jezabel Careaga has taken over the space next door at 206 S. 45th Street, doubling the number of seats.
Careaga opened Jezabel’s Studio last summer, as a complement to her original eatery on the other side of the Schuylkill, Jezabel’s Café in Fitler Square. But the second location has more going on than food: It’s part tea house, part cooking demo space where Careaga hosts classes, and part home store. The store sells furniture made by Careaga, using local materials, along with home goods made by other women-owned businesses.
The tea house serves teas from around the world, plus coffee and a short menu of Argentine food, including savory empanadas, sweet alfajores, and daily specials brought over from Jezabel’s Café. As part of the expansion, Jezabel’s Studio is extending weekend hours and adding breakfast fare like ham and cheese medialunas, Spanish omelets, and blueberry scones.
The studio also doubles as an event space that can be used for private parties — with the expansion, it will be able to host bigger gatherings.
It’s open Monday to Friday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
