Junior’s Starts Serving Roast Pork Sandwiches on East Passyunk This Week

It’s the second location for the sandwich shop, after the original at the Jersey Shore

Sandwich shop Junior’s Beef & Pork is just about ready to start carving roast beef and piling long hots on pork at its new location on East Passyunk Avenue. The casual eatery, which describes itself as offering “a taste of South Philly,” first opened in Wildwood at the Jersey Shore. The new Philly location, at 1840 E. Passyunk Avenue, opens its doors April 27, reports the Passyunk Post.

Junior’s joins the mix of counter-service spots and high-end restaurants lining East Passyunk Avenue, Philly’s hottest restaurant strip. It’s next door to Stargazy, the excellent British pie shop, and within a block or so of Will BYOB, Sate Kampar, Tre Scalini, Lucky 13, and Le Virtu, among others. What’s missing from that lineup is a place to get a classic Philly roast pork sandwich. Enter Junior’s, with its roast pork served with broccoli rabe, long hots, or cheese (the Italian on the menu has all three), along with sandwiches stuffed with roast beef, meatballs, and sausage, peppers, and onions. The rolls are from Liscio’s Bakery. Fries are also on the menu, as they should be, plus Caesar salad, potato salad, and pasta salad. In other words, this place is covering all the sandwich shop bases (minus cheesesteaks. Geno’s and Pat’s are nearby).

Junior’s will be easy to spot: Owners Gino and Stephanie DeJesse and their son, Gino, went bright with the paint job.
