Kevin Sbraga Leads the Lineup at New Reading Terminal Dinner Series

It’s part market tour, part dinner

Reading Terminal Market, the 125-year-old food market in Center City offering everything from Pennsylvania Dutch classics to falafel, pad thai, and roast pork sandwiches, is kicking off a new nighttime series that’s part tour, part cooking class, and part dinner. The first event in the Market to Table lineup, taking place on August 10, will be led by Top Chef winner Kevin Sbraga.

Along with row after row of vendors selling made-to-order meals for eating onsite, prepared foods to go, and sweets like cannoli, doughnuts, and chocolates, Reading Terminal also features stands selling locally sourced produce, dairy, meat, and other groceries. The idea behind the Market to Table dinners is to remind people they can get their grocery shopping done right there.

With that in mind, Sbraga, who’s had an interesting history in Philly, with all his restaurants praised but now closed, will start by guiding attendees on a shopping trip through the market. Next, he’ll do a cooking demo using only ingredients from the market — and then it’s time to eat.

Chopped winner (and opening chef at SouthGate) Clara Park will run the event on September 13. On October 19, Nick Macri of La Divisa Meats will take over for the evening. Tickets are $100 a head.
