Hot on the heels of their reveal that they’re opening an outpost of retro Midwestern restaurant Bud & Marilyn’s at the Philadelphia International Airport comes news that pioneering restaurateurs Marcie Turney and Val Safran have another project in the works. Safran and chef Turney are working on Loveluck, an indoor/outdoor eatery in LOVE Park (officially John F. Kennedy Plaza).
Loveluck is going into the mid-century modern UFO-shaped Fairmount Park Welcome Center building, Philly Mag reports. The building has been closed for a few years to undergo an extensive renovation — part of the park’s larger renovation that started in early 2016.
As the magazine notes, the Fairmount Park Conservancy website describes the restaurant as a space with 50-55 seats inside and 135 seats on a balcony and an adjoining park-level terrace.
Turney and Safran already have five restaurants in Midtown Village/the Gayborhood — Lolita, Barbuzzo, Jamonera, Little Nonna’s and Bud & Marilyn’s — along with housewares shop Open House, food market Grocery, and boutique Verde. They’re working on something by East Passyunk Avenue as well.
