Rittenhouse Square and Fishtown will be home to Jeni’s first locations in all of Pennsylvania

Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, the cult-favorite ice cream brand started by Jeni Britton Sauer in Ohio in 2002, will open two stores in Philadelphia this year. Joining the fifty-plus storefronts across the US, these will be the first Jeni’s scoop shops in Pennsylvania.

It was previously possible to get Jeni’s by the pint at local Whole Foods, ACME, Mom’s, and Wegman’s, but the two locations will be the first scoop shops where Jeni’s fans can get the beloved ice cream straight from the source. The shops will open “later this year” in Rittenhouse and Fishtown — no information yet on when “later this year” will be. “I’ve loved visiting Philadelphia over the years. And I’m so excited to get to spend even more time there,” founder Jeni Britton Sauer says in a release.

No word on whether Jeni’s divisive Everything Bagel flavor or sold-out Dolly Parton strawberry pretzel pie style will be available for a cone to-go, but the brambleberry crisp and buttercream birthday cake definitely will.
