Pennsylvania’s strict liquor laws already cause some confusion over exactly where and when Philadelphians can buy a bottle of booze. When the coronavirus pandemic hit and the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board closed all state-run Fine Wine & Good Spirits — the stores where most locals buy hard alcohol and wine — it became even more unclear. But there are options. Some supermarkets stock wine, and the prices are generally on par with state store bottles. For those avoiding supermarkets or looking for a more interesting selection, a handful of Philly bars and restaurants are selling bottles to go. As usual, the limit is four bottles per transaction. Looking for hard alcohol? Find options for ordering whiskey, gin, vodka, and more here.

State store update: Starting Monday, April 27, phone ordering with payment by credit card and curbside pickup is available at several Fine Wine & Good Spirits stores in Philly, but in limited capacity. The PLCB advises patience.
