Updating the Eater Heatmap: Where to Eat Right Now

View as Map

More often than not, tipsters, readers, friends and family of Eater have one question: Where should I eat right now? What are the new restaurants? What's everyone talking about? While the Eater 38 is a crucial resource covering old standbys and neighborhood essentials across the city, it is not a chronicle of the 'it' places of the moment. Thus, we offer the Eater Heat Map, which will change continually to always highlight where the foodie crowds are flocking to at the moment. New to the map this time around: the long-awaited Stephen Starr/Peter Serpico collabo-resto Serpico, Ken Shin's fro-yo and Korean fried chicken joint Tango, and Jersey's popular IndeBlue.

Have any suggestions? Any vital omissions? Leave 'em in the comments or send 'em down the tipline.

Serpico

After a very long wait, Serpico opened to great fanfare and has been an almost impossible reservation. Early reports have been excellent, and it has taken the crown as Philly's most beautiful restaurant.
Joncarl Lachman's Noord has made a big splash on East Passyunk, and has become an instant classic. From herring sandwiches to rotisserie chicken and smoked fish, he's got Northern European cuisine covered.

Pizzeria Beddia

Pizzeria Beddia is a huge hit. The immense critical love for Joe Beddia's goods paired up with the limited number of pies he makes each day suggests you should reserve a pizza way in advance if you hope to score one. Worth the effort.

Fitler Dining Room

The new project from the Pub & Kitchen crew is warm and friendly, and the food chef Robert Marzinsky is turning out is pitch perfect. The definition of an every day restaurant.

Indeblue

IndeBlue just opened up on 13th Street, adding to the glut of new Center City restaurants that are making some noise. After killing it in in Jersey, they're hoping to repeat that success over the bridge.

Jerry's Bar

Jerry's Bar just went through a big reboot, and it's already claimed a lot of regulars and gotten the attention of the barflys in the city. Marshall Green (Cafe Estelle) is in the kitchen, too.

Cheu Noodle Bar

Cheu Noodle Bar joined the ramen movement in Philly, and have added a host of other noodle dishes from around the globe. Tons of critical praise and blogger buzz has made this the spot for noodles in Philly.
Tango is the latest storefront from Ken Shin, and this time around he's mashing up Korean fried chicken, noodles, and yes, froyo. But, it's getting great buzz and that's what counts.

Tiffin Bistro

Munish Narula's latest eatery brings his popular Indian cuisine to South Philly, and it's finally here. Expect a level of quality between his Tiffin mini-chain and swanky high-end Tashan on South Broad.
